Pb1302
Name is Peter. Looking forward to some trail time in the defender. Still needs more restoration but for now all frame and running gear is new/rebuilt. Lots of work but best to do a frame off right...so I started from the bottom working up. Needs interior and the body done as well as my 200TDI installed. Runs like a champ on the old 19J for now. But needs he 200TDI to get it where it belongs. Pb1302
Nice!! Is that a tub of a 109 hiding next to it? (pic of chassis on driveway).No. The tub is for my 110 you see. Had to lay it on the side as I ran out of room in the garage to put anything. It was slammed packed with stuff during the rebuild. Pb1302
oooohhhhh.... shiney new chassis! (or at least cleaned and painted and rust-free...just as good)Yup. Had it blasted and powder coated. Did some frame repairs and a brand new rear crossmember and new outriggers as well. It is practically new. It was in good shape to start with. Got lucky. Bulkhead on the other hand was rotted like crazy. That is why the one you see is blue. That one is from a 94 and in MUCH better shape. Still needs a bit of work but I have all new metal waiting to go on it to do that right. She will look factory newish when it's all done I hope. Pb1302
Started my rebuild of my 11L Defender Spec 200 tdi. Looks like it just needs new bearings and a few other new bits of course will be replaced. It’s gonna be all cleaned and painted with POR15 engine enamel and exhaust bits with POR15 high temp paint. I want it to be better than when new. So far only a few broken bolts but everything else is in great shape. Pistons are good and block and head seem to be in great shape. Two of the injectors were definitely stuck and not working. You could see it in the piston and cylinder area as well as once I took them apart to clean. The Bosch VE pump I will also rebuild at home. Seems to be in good shape...but I have not taken it apart yet. Still need to clean and sandblast all the parts. I’m rebuilding everything on the engine in regards to ancillary parts. All will be painted or yellow zinc coated. Thinking of a gold color for the block and black or silver paint in parts that attach to it.
