I opened my drapes this morning at the Big Pine Motel and there was Desert Crawler standing there with his coffee mug. They got in about midnight last night. Many of the group are staying at the Bristlecone Inn down the road. Beautiful day here, sunny and cool with lots of snow on the Sierras to the west of us. The clan is gathering and it's shaping up to be a great trip!

Checked into Holiday Inn Express last night around 8:20. Swam in the pool anne got a great nights sleep. Loaded the truck up first thing this morning, located a couple of LR's but saw nobody. Went for another swim, met Leigh and his boys, now waiting for kids to get ready for breakfast! Can't wait to start the experience!

Glad to hear you made it home safe and sound plus great meeting you - We planned to leave out yesterday morning and made it back to the SJ valley by 9pm.

What little we did was fantastic!!

As we pulled out of the Marble Bath I found a Pelican 1020 Micro Case on my bonnet - I threw it my rig and forgot about it until unloading last night.

It must belong to someone who was at the bath so please PM me. You can swing by Stockton (work) or Elk Grove (home) to collect it or I can FedEx it back to you.

We made It home about 8 PM without incident. Excellent trip! Everyone made it through chicken rock. For me it was PUCKER-12 on a scale of 1-10 but fun at the same time. A bit of minor carnage not associated with the rock but details will come later. Now headed to the shower and then to bed...

Awesome trip!! Great trails and people. We are home and spent the last two days cleaning the truck and gear. The truck seemed to make it through and no incidents of overheating on the drive home. I did notice the bolt for my front bumper/brush guard is missing. Probably somewhere after the 100+miles of washboards.

A few quick pics:

We are in Bishop, heading home. I started a new thread for trip report, pix, etc. cause this one is quite crowded..

Beaver can you post up the pic you took of the road closed sign? People on other boards want to see it -- they think it is fake -- maybe a Sierra club trick?

I got back Tuesday morning around 4 AM to the Bay Area; Richard and I drove through a sandstorm in the late evening in Death Valley, with high gusty winds all the way up Hwy. 395 to Hwy. 89. I got to Monitor Pass around 11 PM and drove through a snowstorm across Hwy. 89 And Hwy. 50 down to the Valley.

Chuck, Dan, Nathan: thank you for organizing a great trip: super group, many great memories and lots of good off-roading! Nathan, I hope you and Rovage are okay: what a an outstanding Rangie!

I took quite a few pictures and some short videos and, Chuck, if you could let me know where we can post some of these, I'll plan to do so.

Great first trip with NCLR and I'm looking forward to many more!

Regards

Aurangzeb

Ok - I'm pulling together some of our pictures and pictures that you all have posted and building a NCLR DV2011 movie. Something fun to do would be to get some quotes or videos of a few of you talking about Chicken Rock. PM me with brief answers (couple sentences) to 1 or all of the questions below. For extra credit, have someone take a video of you answering the questions and I may include it in the movie.

How would you describe Chicken Rock and/or the Chicken Rock experience to someone who's never been?

How would you describe the entire NCLR DV 2011 experience?

Please get me your responses by 9/16.

Lil'Crawler, I need your videos. Burn the original files to DVD and mail them to me. I'll PM you my address.

ps: If I use your pictures/videos in the movie, I will be sure to include you in the credits. If you DON'T want me to use your pictures, just say so.
