  1. I had alignment checked again (was done about a year ago). Front was still good - but rear passenger side Toe was off. Tire that wore however was on driver side. Could be that I had it on passenger side before (I had switched off road tires on for a few months) and that's where the bad wear occurred - but not sure. Anyway - alignment is back in spec on all 4 wheels now. Will keep an eye on new tires for unusual wear.
  2. Highly recommend service at Los Gatos Goodyear
  3. I wore my rear tires down to the steel belt ! Whole inside edge was starting to separate from the rest of the tire ! Replaced the pirelli scorpions with Goodyear Eagle Sport A/S - mainly because I could get that done quickly/locally. So far tires have tightened up handling , seem as quiet as pirellis and ran well in the wet today. Steering response is improved. Let’s see what they are like in the dry.
  4. In the picture I had already unclipped it ... yeah .. nothing obvious rubbing against it ....
  5. Brake pad sensor lit up on dashboard - funny I just changed the pads recently ... turns out the sensor wire had chaffed and was intermittently shorting out. Lucky I had a spare one in the garage - remove wheel, fender liner rivets, disconnect old one inside liner , thread new one in - fixed !
  6. I'm sure it said "Mrade in amelica" on the box .... now I have to pay the trump border tax too ?
  7. Yeah - you are probably right - but they are American made, ceramic, good reviews on other platforms - so I wanted to try - and price is very good too ... Let's see after 1k miles how they are doing ...
  8. Did rear pads today - decided to leave rotors to avoid playing with EPB ... rotors look ok and measured at close to 20mm. Used powerstop z31 ceramic pads - came in nice kit with new spring clips. Pads are thermally scorched to help bed in. Easy job. ( used harbor freight caliper compressor - 15mm wrench, 13mm socket and torque wrench ) so far brakes smoothly.
  9. I would say the EBC are pretty close to stock from a brake feel point of view - I did not notice a significant difference yet - but I am also not very hard on the brakes. I used Akebonos on my daughter's BMW - they have less initial bite cold - but perform well warm - and leave almost no black dust on the RIMs if that is critical to you. They also seem to wear very well - still almost like new after 30K miles .... (main reason I went with EBC was because i had to use the Atlantic certificate that was about to expire). I think EBC also has a heavier duty pad that gets good reviews - made in UK factory where I went to college and close to JLR ... StopTech from RockAuto might also be an interesting (and less expensive) option - I have a set of rear pads I'm going to put on this weekend - but no experience yet with those ....
  10. New front rotors and pads - went with pagid high carbon rotors from rock auto and ebc ultimate pads from Atlantic British - so far very good ....
  11. Well a fried alternator can't be such a bad DIY (or maybe you are still under warranty) , but I'm surprised so many LR3/4's had the same issue ? Sounds like they are missing a splash guard or something on the design .... perhaps an opportunity for Graeme to tool something up on the 3D printer and get into that business
