  1. Yeah, you usually only make that mistake once.
  2. No need for reservations; it's sorted. I posted trip routes and itinerary a page or two back along with meeting location map for Lodi. Glad you're going to make it! Haven't seen you out in a while what with your future race driver and all.
  3. I didn't think ask about diesel. I think you've been there; he just has a big storage tank on-site with a metered pump on it, not a real station. I do seem to remember him having multiple tanks but it's been a few years.
  4. Details are a page back. Starbucks at 99 and 12. There's gas/food there as well. Plan to roll out at 8am.
  5. ha.... I once mixed an old outboard at 100:1 instead of 50:1. I made it back - barely - and it locked solid once it cooled. Game Over.
  6. Mike, we're planning to meet in Lodi at 8 then head up 88 to 395. Das Google says a little over 7 hrs but I figure with stops call it 8 to Gold Point. So est 4pm arrival. It should be about 2.5 hrs (10:30-10:45ish) to 395 at Gardnerville from which point we'll be on the same route as you.
  7. Oh for f#ck's sake.... Picked the wheel up Friday. Saturday I went to install it only to find it won't fit. They missed the drill pattern just slightly. So that wasn't frustrating or anything. They open at 8:30 today (monday) and I was on their doorstep at 8:35 figuring I wanted to give them a chance open the doors before I arrived. By 8:45 nobody had shown up and I had to get to my first job (that I'd already delayed from my planned 8am start). I made a long lunch run back to Stockton again and dropped the wheel and hub off. The owner/machinist wasn't there so I just left it with the counter guy. Hopefully I'll hear something back in the next day or two. (note: breath not held)
  8. I attempted to install my repaired wheel only to find they mis-drilled the lug holes. So that was fun. Took it down to them (twice, as they didn't open when they said they would) and dropped it off along with an extra hub from the parts truck to use as a template. So since I couldn't play tire games I trimmed the ends off my sliders for a bit more clearance. While in there I started eyeing some more extreme cutting that may yet happen. Because sometimes the saw has a mind of it's own.
  9. I'm just waiting for my gas trimmer to die so I'll have an excuse to replace it with one of these. Same for my leaf blower. But I just can't (yet) convince myself to toss perfectly functional 2-stroke machines for magic pixies despite the ease-of-use factor.
  10. I've had some people asking what time we will be off the trail on Saturday. Well, that depends on a few things - How early will we start moving? I tend to roll out fairly early but I know it's hard to heard the cats. How much time do we spend checking out the sights along the way? Do we head straight to Baker or do we take the slightly longer route through Shoshone for gas? If you're looking to make decent time, it's about 110 miles from our last camp to Baker. At least half of that is paved and the rest is pretty tame dirt road. (there is a short section I have not driven before but it looks pretty like good fast gravel road). If we were to leave at 9 and head straight to Baker, including time to air up on the pavement, I'd say we'd be there by noon.
  11. OK - Everything is set for Sat evening - Mon morning at Gold Point for 7 trucks. Gas will be available. Can I get a head-count on who's planning to meet me in Lodi for the drive down vs who's planning to head out on their own? Obviously Paul will be going on his own but who else?
  12. Ah, I forgot about the fan. But I was thinking of your buddy who had some random misfiring in his RRC on the way to Briggs.
  13. Adulting is not an adequate excuse. I'm willing to donate a couple HF blue tarps to the roof project so you can come. What?? No!!! What part of "virtual" are you not understanding? Hey now, if you don't come who's going to fix the random RRC ignition problems?
  14. That's a bummer - haven't wheeled with you in quite a while! But hey, you've still got a week to sort the Rx out - plenty of time, right??
  15. Last call - I'm going to call Gold Point Sunday (forgot to do it today...) and make the reservation for camping and gas. I think we can decide on-site if anybody wants breakfast.
  16. There will be various lawsuites filed and it will likely drag out for some time yet, but I expect in the end CCC will win because California. (it pains me to say this as I really hate it when people trash talk the state but some things are just out of hand)
  17. I mean, obviously the green rope is superior. I thought everybody knew that!
  18. Unbelievable Amazing Shocking Unheard-of ...It's actually done! Now tomorrow I'll get to pull all my tires off and install my new fancy valve stems, remount them, put the spare away, and finally be done playing wheel games for a while.
  19. You know Paul, there's a ton of stuff I haven't explored/visited in the park. Maybe you'll have to plan a trip there for next fall/winter!
  20. OK, let's see if this works. I just spent hours moving routes and waypoints into a separate folder so you guys wouldn't have to see the massive clutter of crap I have on my maps. Try this link https://www.gaiagps.com/datasummary/folder/74db1db8-4b57-493e-852c-48045edd46b4/?layer=usfs-2016
  21. All this time and I STILL don't have my wheel back from Stockton Wheel. They seldom answer the phone so I generally have to just stop by. Twice I've done that and been told it would be ready in a few days. I would then give them more than the requested time and come back only to find nothing had been done. Per the last visit on Monday they were supposed to be done on Wed. I'm going down tomorrow (Friday) in hopes it's ready.
  22. It's on my calendar! Haven't been down there in a couple years.
  23. It's only a few hours until Friday so I'll get a head-start on this. How about that time Nick D had a snow bridge collapse under his RRC at the annual Bald Mountain snow run?
  24. Shall we try to re-create these pics in a week or so?
  25. I remember that - I was in the LR3 and we were taking a small group out for an afternoon 'hard' run and it snapped climbing up the loose wall in that small quarry area.
