  1. The earliest trip to Oregon was led by Brian? HBR? I’ll be in BayArea this week and see if Carlos or Ron went on that trip. I know the trips were north-south. I’ll plotting an East-west route.
  2. Too short a notice for Lassen, but here’s some pics of the general area.
  3. It’s in NE Cal by Oregon border near Cave Lake campgrounds in the Warner Mtns. ( part of Oregon trip exploration) ]
  4. Someone on this forum traveled Dismal Swamp several years ago. I’d like their opinion.
  5. I have a d-ring and a pulley having oxidation problems. I stored them in my vehicle for a long period. They both oxidized with a thin whitish gray coating. Any suggestions to save them?
  6. Ok I’ve checked out the roads and campsites east of Lassen. Since it’s pretty far for most of you it’ll be a 3 day trip 2 nites camping the rest on FS rds , plan to drive by Eastwood’Rising River Ranch, visit Burney Mtn lookout, pass the SETI radioscope site, drive up to hang gliding site, drive parallel to 89 on FS rd, visit Subway Caves, camp at Twin Bridges area, fish or dip into Hat Creek, next day drive up to West Prospect Peak lookout, back to campsites, lunch, rest or pack up to return to BayArea. This will not be a Rovicon but rather a family type trip. We’ll start from Redding on 299?and return to Redding via 44. Name brand gas stations in Burney, next gas is Old Station. Dispersed camping, bring water, pack in pack out, your own wag bags . I’ll bring a communal privacy shelter Trip occurs last weekend of July Any questions post here.
  7. CTmotorworks in Walnut Creek. He advertises on this board and is a longtime club member. He did my head gasket about a year ago.
  8. Was that the same trip in Alleghany snow blocked the road and we had to double back?
  9. I’ll probably be behind caravan by 15’. 146.460 for communications?
  10. Strange weather. It was warming up before the trip cancellation then it rained and snowed additional to 2†to a foot or more causing the cancellation. The weather has been alternating between sunny, partly cloudy to cloudy, rainy and humid back to partly cloudy. I “ll attempt to drive up thataways this weekend or do Pettyjohn/Vestal rds.
  11. MT. LASSEN TRIP POSTPONED. Too much snow blocking the roads and it’s cool and raining in that area. That means hardly any melt and possibly more snow. I’ll try to reschedule the Fourth of July or after. Anyone want to try my alternative? It’s mainly dirt, ranchlands, FS and BLM lands. Altitude 4000’ . PM me.
  12. Here’s the latest news. Snow on roads starting at 5600’ level. This trip may have to be postponed til late June or July. I will verify the snow level by Wednesday. I do have an alternate trip if people still want out of BayArea on Memorial weekend. This trip leaves west of Red Bluff on Reeds Creek Rd thru ranchlands, then west on Pettyjohn Rd continuing west on Long Grade Rd, turning onto FS 35 westward til Rat Trap Gap. then north on N45 til Tedoc Gap, continuing north on N45 ( aka Tedoc Rd) til Hwy 36. East to Red Bluff , but we head west again past the town of Platina, west til right turn onto N 70 til we reach trailhead to Hall City Caves about a half mile hike. Anyone want to try this alternative or wait til snow melts? There are motels in Red Bluff, most are getting booked full now, alternative you can stay at my residence. LMK
  13. Sorry, I was unable to scout today. See my post on temporary CV boot repair. I’ll try to scout later this week and on Mother’s Day.
  14. The Elevation 5000+ up to 7800 ft I was there last week and will further explore this Sunday the blm campgrounds, if open. I expect snow at higher elevations and will give further report this Monday. The ranger at LaTour S.F. expects his campground open by mid June, so that means lower elevation camping and dispersed camps.
  15. This is a follow up on the public posting on the Mt. Lassen trip. The roads are easy, so this can be a family camp trip. More than likely dispersed camping. Suggested dates: May 18-19 - - - (canceled too much snow) May 25-26-27 June 1-2 June15-16 Post your choice date(s) lithium1330 suggests Memorial wknd girlrvr suggest Mwmorial wknd
