1st NCLR Brochure Picture Contest!!!

Recommended Posts

I am updating and creating a draft NCLR brochure. We want to use some good photo's of past outings to attract new members to the club. I am looking for a total of 6 pictures to add to the brochure -- which will be a 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper, trifolded. So when displayed, they will be about 3 1/2 inches wide. You should have the photo quality version available, if needed, so we can take advantage of the high resolution print capability of Xerox's top end color copier -- which is being donated by the local West Region marketing manager for our initial run.

Please post your favorite picture on this thread -- along with which category you nominate it for. Please post only one picture per response, so I can keep track of the entrants. We will be taking a vote using an online survey for peoples favorites... If you have a fave you already see loaded up in someones album, feel free to pick and post it as well...

1. Family focused picture -- showing kids and wives and dads having a good time. Bonus points for smiles on the kids faces and NCLR logo'd gear...

2. Pic showing different vehicle types -- Defender, Series, Disco, Rangie, LR3 all on the same trail. Preferably a NorCal trail with NCLR members rigs.

3. Your favorite "extreme" pic -- showing some challenging climbs/wheel in the air, etc.. A spotter with a NCLR shirt earns bonus points. No rigs on their sides please, Frank or Will..

4. Your favorite scenic pic -- showing a view of a "road less travelled".. focus on the landscape -- but Rovers in the distance or foreground would clearly be a bonus..

5. Rovers around the campfire/setting up Camp. Rooftop, Tent Cot, campfire, whatever...again - bonus points for NCLR gear...

6. The mandatory club shoot -- with the big NCLR banner. We used it at Mojave, also the club meet at Hollister and Mexxi's... choose your best shot...more people in it the better -- but people and rigs is cool too...

7. Rookie Driver -- a pic of a completely stock rig out on a wheeling adventure. Nothing too extreme, just something that makes it look like even someone without modifications can wheel with us...

8. Wildcard category -- your favorite shot that doesn't fit into one of the 6 above. Nominate your favorite picture!

Nominations will be open for the next two weeks, closing down on Friday, April 25th. By then, I should be able to pick the three/four semifinalists for each category, and post an on-line poll for membership to respond to...

Here's Luis climbing Five Fingers in his LR3, with DesertCrawler in front of him and Gary spotting at the top. Original image is 3072x2304.

Here's Steve hangin' on to Griff's G4... about 4 or 5 feet in the air. The NCLR logo is a little blown out though. The original is 3072x2304.

I think we need to be careful as to what goes on the brochure. This is a cool picture, but that technique is not safe and should not be presented as an acceptable practice by putting it on a club handout.
