Arnold, CA Area Trip - April 17-19

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure if I should be bummed that I don't get the bonus points or happy I'm not old enough to get the reference?

Basically a 'slotless' slot car set up that had a slow moving car you had to pass - the 'jam car'.

Ours lived in the attic above the garage. You know, exactly where you want to send your kids when it's already a 90*+ summer out...

I had to look it up and I KNOW I'm old enough to get that reference because Santa brought plenty of AFX & Tyco stuff back in the day... I just didn't know what a Jam car was, because I had the slot car with the pin to keep it in lane.

By the way, still in on the idea of this trip -- since I'm already committed to so many other trips, I'll just wait until the date lands.

I think I'd like to get rock sliders on RedRover before something like this.

I'd vote 'yes' to that plan. No repeats of 'the road that shall not be named'

Man, you guys need to live in the moment a little and quit booking up weekends! You are talking about weekends up to 3 months away! I mean, who does that?!?!? Oh, I'm out for the month of June. My weekends are booked

On a serious note, I'm in for April or May pretty much any weekend except for the 3 day weekend in March.

Or until his wife decides they are 1. pregnant, or 2. he should sell another rover, or 3. we actually see him in the LWB on trail. I can't wait to see you grow up kid...

I'll take option 3, but since I don't have a choice in the other 2, who knows what'll happen!

It's funny how Nick was really asking about next year but you guys are planning your own. At Slick Rock, but I have to say everyone can do the first or last 2/3 of the trail (depending which side you start on). When you cross the river in your Rover you get to a set of bolders. Then your either forced to go up or down it. I can say this part is the hardest. It's also called the gate keeper. I wouldn't take any stock trucks up it without a good spotter. There isn't a really good bypass for that part. If you have rock protection then your in better luck of getting out without damage. It's been a few years since I've been there, but I did drive my GMC through the first half and parked it at the waterfalls area. It's a very nice trail for most of these trucks. I would say great choice of trip for everyone.

I'll definitely be interested in this trip. Thanks for the thread Nick.

Hopefully i can get the approval to buy and older rrc by then. I am a little concerned about beating up the lr4 too much.

Ok, as the owner of a RRC and on behalf of all of us RRC owners...we approve. Now go buy one. You may point me out to the wife at a later date and say "Talk to Mike, he made me do it".... You can ask others, they will back that I am a bad influence.

By the way,

Program That one in the bay area looks nice to me. How's about I give you the money to buy it for me and keep it safe for a bit?

Winner! Pedram should be all over this!

Did a date get decided on this event?  I'm starting to see a couple of free weekends on my calendar and can't have any of that...

-Jared

Ditto, but those free weekends will go fast.  any idea at least on windows of time?

I don't think anything has been decided as yet.  How do we look at the end of April?

The 18th and 19th is probably open since this is the weekend prior to elections.
