All,

And 11 trucks made it ... 10 of them Land Rover made.

We just got back after a great run home (the longer but quicker way, going east to go west). Had a great time there. Trails are more of a challenge than Hollister now, but maybe because we know those too well already. I vote that we get back there again soon. Could be very slippery after a lot of rain, but with the little bit they have had it was just right (firm with a little 'give', but absolutely no dust). Of course, this is reported as I didn't actually get to drive ....

When we left, only minor damage had been sustained .... but ....

Regards,

Graeme

I missed out. Rain cancelled soccer, so I was in but needed a seat (RRC has d/s issues). Texted all coming thru my area, but "my area" was a misunderstanding. Next time, Rover willing, I'll be there.

Mike,

You've got to be careful now ... Justin turned up in a Land Rover at last, quashing the rumor that he didn't actually drive a Land Rover ... so the monkey is on your back now .... we believe you have a VW because we've seen that ... but a Rover? ....

Great run - I really liked Frank Raines and would be glad to go back there again. With 11 trucks it worked out well to split into two groups; it seems about 5 is all that can keep moving at a reasonable pace without tripping over each other. I'd say that should probably be our standard MO when we have that many rigs on the trail.

True, the only other truck we ran into at all was the Sheriff who stopped to watch us come down the last big hill and chat. Otherwise just some bikes and side by sides.

I didn't mention that we got a late start though. On the drive in Michal, Colin, and me ran into a couple guys in a pickup who had hit one of the many rocks washed down on the road and completely killed a tire. They had no spare and no tools to mention. We used Colin's jack to get the truck up and the tire off and found a good 3" gash in the area normally occupied by tread. Being that their tires were nearly bald, I at least assume there had been tread on the tire at one point.

We shoved a ton of plugs into it and got it to at least leak more slowly but were still fighting it when another truck with some of their buddies came by and agreed to run the back into Patterson to get a tire. I think if we had truly been in the middle of nowhere we might have eventually gotten it to hold air but in this case enough was enough so we went on our way. We ran into them later in the park, so they did manage to salvage part of their day.

Now I just need to remember to pick up some more tire plugs!

Made it home in only one gear left. 4th. Not even a reverse. Transmission is done.

Thank you all for coming out. Great friends and really something different. I had a blast. I wasn't planning to do any more trips any time recently. So my truck is out of commission. Jared thanks for sticking around. Hwy 130 was very interesting in rain. I traveled with Anudeep that way.

Looks like everyone had a great time and the change of location sounds awesome. It seemed to be challenging, but still do-able for a stock rover?

I hope the December MORG happens there - if so, I am there! :-)

Pedram, so sorry to hear about your Disco. Is this something you will be able to fix?

Thanks everyone for posting pictures, so happy to see everyone in action.

I was so sad to miss this MORG.

Starting to do a driver's meeting and arrange everyone by radio contact order. I lead everyone to disaster..... Not really.

After taking a small hill climb and some fire trails to get to the top, Colin, Don, and a few others decided to break from the pack and do some hard trails up a black diamond. I lead the group back up and continued on. We reached the to eventually meeting up with everyone again for lunch.

My wife made a handful of cupcakes. Which I shared with as many people I could. More people than cupcakes.

Colin decided to play and needed some eyes to get back down safely. It is always more scary when you're driving. Man I had to take a serious hike to get this shot.

At the same time I was called over to the other hill on the right to save a 110 from another disaster recovery. But I can fly. So he was skilled enough to get himself down in that timeframe.

So after about an hour of this we had a few folks who needed to go back home. So we gathered everyone back on the fire trail and got back down. After a few hours saying our byes and pictures of white discos, the few who stayed wanted more...... And more they got.

Pedram, if you can find another transmission in decent shape (I've never looked for one so I don't know how hard they would be to find or how much $$$) I'm sure we could swap it in a day. Maybe we can talk one of those nice members with a lift into letting us use their place for a day to make life easier.

One way or another we'll get you back on the trail.
