Members,

The Board has decided to provide a checklist or protocol for all santctioned NCLR Club trips. This protocol provides the Trip and/or Trail leader with a requirements needed to lead a "Sanctioned" trip. Secondly, it means that both leaders and participants will be able to anticipate what is required and how a sanctioned trip should be organized.

In order to come to this protocol, the Board invites all members to comment on any item that they think would be an important requirement of a trip leader. All submissions will be accepted via this thread, compiled and presented in a comprehensive list to the Board for review prior to acceptance. All submissions may not be used.

Please post with your thoughts and ideas and thank you in adavnce on behalf of the Board, Officers and the Club Members for working to make all or our experiences better.

I see this protocol with several different sections:

1. Trip leader qualifications - Knowledge and experience of the leader: Formal training, first aid, previous trip experience, knowledge of trip area, etc.

2. Trip leader checklist - What the person must do to organize and lead a trip: Actions that the leader must take before, during and after the trip.

3. Participant drivers and vehicles qualifications - This is something that should be developed by the trip leader based on the difficulty and unique features of the trip.

4. Participant vehicle checklist - Also developed by the trip leader including mandatory and recommended equipment and capabilities of the vehicles participating as well as necessary experience of the drivers.

Do we want to consider safety inspections for all vehicles participating in Club events?

Just my $0.02
