our 94' RRC LWB, first Rover

I rode my moto to So-Cal in a freakin' monsoon to pick this up. I rented a u-haul trailer and drove home the next morning. Very clean and straight with a good service history and the PO got it from his mother! IT has the correct springs in the rear but the med duty ones in the front. As soon as the Jeep sells we will start transforming her into the family off-road camping rig.

Phone pic is the best I can do for now.

138K. I have never owned one but drove a couple before I bought this one. The motor is very smoothe, the tranny shifts quietly and w/o any jerking or hit. I'm very impressed. I used to have a F250 CC diesel and we towed the Jeep with it. I wanted to consolidate and have one vehicle that I could REALLY drive off road with the dog, kid and wife and all our gear. I think this is it and I can't wait to try it out!

The Jeep is gone!

First up, a new set of sneakers for the old gal. 215/85-16 Dura-tracs. The gentleman at the Goodyear store was good enough to bring in the 245/75's too. The 215s were about .75 inches taller and .75 inches narrower than the 245's. I really like the look and these tires are QUIET! Very pleasantly surprised and looking forward to testing them off-road. A set of the correct lugs are on the way.

Had the A/C re-charged, PO said it worked but no cold air blowin'. Leak in the high pressure hose. Local guy made up a hose for 50 bucks and my mech. charged it up. Chilly now and Mama is happy.

I took a re-fresher welding class all day last Saturday and have decided to give the bumpers and rack a shot myself. I found that welding is much like riding a bike in that doing it makes you better at doing it. The budget for this truck is limited so it falls to me to do the work. The rack will be first since it is the easiest project of the three.

Rig looks great, like the new hoops.

Question: Refresher welding course?? Where does one find such a thing?? Ok, so I don't have any welding experience to "refresh" but have wanted to learn to weld for years... Might there be a Saturday (Introduction to Welding" somewhere? I'd rather not take two semesters at the local community college and thus have a looong list f potential projects :-)

The Rover looks great. I have those same tires in that size on my '91 too! Unfortunately it's out of commission until I fix the alternator belt (snapped in half...)

Tom, check this out : http://sacmetalartsguild.wordpress.com/2012/04/16/beginning-welding-sculpture-class-saturday-april-28th/

This is the link to the class I took. Scout, the instructor, is a working fabricator and metal artist. He asked me what i wanted to get out of the class and taught me accordingly. Great guy and had me welding for 90% of the class time.

codynt, after help from you and some other folks, I decided on the 215. I think they look perfect with the OME HD lift and the truck still runs out nice with the stock gearing. If I go into the diffs to do lockers next year, I'll re-gear and go to the 235's. Thanks for the props!

finally got the shop set up and going on the rack. Time has been limited to week nights after work and a little on the weekends. Learning lessons about set up and prep as I go along and each weld seems to be getting better. This is where I am now, base of the rack complete. Going to try to weld up the front upper rectangle fro the basket today, and get it mostly done over the weekend. Used 1" tubing for the perimeter and cross bars and .75" for the stringers and the bottom of the basket.

Almost done. Need to get some expanded metal for the floor of the basket and finish the uprights on the sides. Welded the light tabs on the front. Im going to use 4 Hella 500's I've had lying around. I bought the tabs from an off-road DYI fabricator, they were designed for mounting shocks.

A couple from earlier this week. Up the Lost Coast and in to Oregon. Crater Lake was still snowed in so we went back down Hwy 1.

Your truck is looking great Dino. What's the stuff on the rear? Is that a tire carrier? It looks like you're tailgate is down but can't tell from the picture clearly. But I see a tire shaped object there as well.
