The area is known for abundant outdoor activities: snow skiing, snowmobiling, water skiing, fishing, and backpacking, horseback riding, 4-wheeling and camping. Camp Edison has heated bathrooms with shower facilities (tokens can be purchased with quarters on the way in), and electrical outlets for each campsite. The breakers can trip easily, so please talk to your camp mates about any heaters or equipment with high power needs you may be using. Each campsite can hold four trucks, or two with trailers, or 8 people max. One person per site needs to make the reservation in their name, and pay the site fee. Winter Rates for November 1- May 14 will be $35.00/night flat fee, no charge for extras. All prices are subject to change. Other people who stay at the site can pay their share of the site fee, and the person who made the reservation will get their deposit back after the trip. I’m confirmed for site #227 (same we’ve used in the past) and the next three people going can put their names in the available slots. When it’s full the next person reserves a site (#226, #229, #230, #231) and continues until everyone has a space. If you are not interested in snow camping there are rooms and cabins available. BEAR
we just heard back from camp edison they said that they are not busy at all and to call and make a reservation 10 days before because they close if the weather gets to bad. don't think that will happen this year but thats what they told us. Jen
Looked at the Web cam yesterday, snow, snow, snow! Yay! Now oldest child refuses to play hooky on Friday, has Perfect Attendance, wants to win a bike in the end of year raffle. I'm finally the boss, and can play hooky when I feel like it, and he decides to be all "responsible". This is going to be a great story later. Much later. Anyone else leaving late from the south bay? We'll be hitting 85 at 2:15/2:

Disco2Guy
I had made plans to do this trip as a big snow run with my boys and my best friend's kids. We were going to rent a cabin and she'd watch the kids play in the snow while I hit the trail. However, I just googled "shaver lake cam" and there is no snow to be seen. So we may be out. Keep me posted on your plans Jen. I fear a lack of snow too. I'm thinking about extending the run to include the trip up to the fire watch tower at the top of Bald Mountain. The trailhead for BM is where we usually turn around for the snow run. I have not run the BM trail, and hear the back half is more challenging. We may go up and down the easier front part, as there maybe some sections not suitable for stock vehicles. I want to be sure everyone can make it who isn't lifted on 33's. The sad part is last week I was doing some searching on Bald Mountain and came across a Yota site that said there was still snow on BM in June, 2011. DPittl
There should be some snow after this storm hits Cal over the next week... Looking forward to it! Am I still in Colin's camp? I'll be in my LR3 and two of my buddies will be coming with me.

Disco2Guy
If Nigel is by himself, that would make 8 people in Colin's camp, which is the max occupancy for a site at Camp Edison. We do have a backup site that is pretty much open at this time, so if we need to shuffle people around it's not a problem.
sasquatch
I'll share with Nigel. 3 or 4 rigs in one site is tight!
Guest Pedram
I'll share with Nigel. 3 or 4 rigs in one site is tight! Oh you just want Nigel to yourself Dave. I am going to miss this trip unfortunitly because of wedding plans but next year there is a better chance of snow anyway... LOL I guess I'm not going to miss much trying to lead you guys through the thin pack of powder this time around in my beast. I'll have the D1 set up like a monster from hell and put Jarell's Disco to shame with better paint. HAHA AHAHA !!! Unless I blow the entire motor before then. Guest Pedram
.... driving over dog schittt and getting stuck within the first 30 feet of trail! ROFLMAO! JK Pedram. Wish you were here... Did you really Roll On the Floor Laughing My(your) Ash(butt) Off? At least I can say I wasn't going home wihtout trying. You Rover guys were like "HELL NO" when you saw that 4 foot wall of snow trying to find the damn road to nowhere. Then you might have to actually get out of your heated seats and put your hot coco down to watch how to break the ice. I bet the LR3 would of broke it's plastic bumper just THINKING of trying it. NAAHH what am I saying... I did drive over that crap and I did get stuck.... So what! Pull me out already! I need to clear the road for you all. I do want to go for sure next time around. Maybe when the snow actually falls enough to make it worth the trip... heck even camping in a tent in the snow with lightning and hail was enough to keep the blood pumping. I have to say it was very crazy in my tent .... No dirty thoughts .... but when I was getting ready for bed I heard a huge smack right behind me and I jump and instantly I knew it was the snow from the trees above... It scared the Toyota out of me. Holy shet!!! That was a fun trip. I want to do that again. Oh the camp fire was nice too. Someone left a milk jug with a gallon of fuel in it for some odd reason... A few of us, no names, including Lutz, Colin, Antonio.... whoops a few of us through it into the fire and melted snow and eye brows. Good times! Disco2Guy
So that's how the snow fire pit got so big! Haha I love it! I'm debating attempting Bald Mtn. for the trip. I'm waiting to see how this weekend turns. I'm not expecting much though with the temps being so high. There are 1 or 2 sections that might pose issues with some rigs, like the LR3's. I have videos bookmarked and will post them when asking the group what they think of BM.
lutz
Im down for BM .Been watching bald mountain trail vids done in early January and their was no snow.Looks to be a fun trail cant wait for scouting.
Disco2Guy
Yeah maybe Sasquatch will join some of us on Friday for a recce. The hardest part of the trail is around the half mile point from the start I think. There are some tall rounded ledges that will test your approach angle coming down.
