KSuttle
My kids are running out of summer vacation and I happen to have a few Fridays off, so we're looking at going camping with a little bit of wheeling. We wanted to camp at Pinecrest, but all sites are book for some time in the future. The book California Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails lists a trail to Eagle Peak following FR4N12 and FR5N74. Has anyone been down this 10 mile trail? Is it possible to camp along the side of the trail? What was the condition of the trail when you traveled it? Bears (and if so, are they car smart?)? Thanks for any information.
LandRonB
Sounds like a good trail for all type of vehicles to run. No personal experience on Eagle Peak but I've been wanting to do the trail near this one by called Niagra Rim maintained by "4x4 in Motion" Let me know your findings - would like to run Eagle Peak and Niagra Rim one of these days. I can send an email to 4x4 in Motion and see what info they may have re: this trail. In the meantime if this helps, attached is the GPX file for Eagle Peak.
