  1. Removed water pump hoping to find a sheared impeller, but didn't. Then cursed myself for removing a perfectly good water pump and spent the better part of the next 2 hours trying to clean the old gasket off. Ordered new thermostat. Bypassed heater core while the wife detailed the coolant out of the carpet. Q
  2. Well who knows what the cause is but the current symptom is coolant all over the floor. Never been stranded in a rover before. Kinda stinks.
  3. I heard the D2 ones with the collars are the best and don't "self extract". I got a set out of a D2 from pick n pull and they have been good since.
  4. yes, P38. Got half way to work and the high temp light caught my eye. Weird thing was i wasn't getting much heat out of the heater and wanted it because it was a bit brisk. Shut it down, pulled over (in that order) and spent a minute freaking out. Turned the key back to the on position and the temp light had gone out and the temp was almost out of the red, strange. Then popped the hood expecting to see a green mess everywhere. But, all looked pretty normal. The coolant tank was full and the hoses had pressure. The upper hose wasn't too hot and I could squeeze it a bit with a bare hand. Also strange. Gently cracked the coolant tank cap and heard boiling, so I shut it. Went back to the cab and the temp was back in the middle of the gauge!! Over the span of maybe 2 minutes. Started it up, stayed in the range. So I closed the hood and drove to work and it didn't miss a beat the rest of the way. The heater also worked great after that. So if the heads, head gaskets and liners didn't let go then maybe I will get away with just changing the thermostat. We will see what happens when I TRY to go home.
  5. Overheated it. Ugh. Praying it's ok. Weird symptoms, thinking sticky thermostat

  7. Oil change, figured out why the windscreen washers don't work, wash and interior detail. Justin, I need a new pump assembly for the p38.
  8. Replaced earlier mentioned drag link end. Didn't protest too much. But they use an 18mm nut? Pretty sure it's the first time I have used the 18 in my set as it was still nice and shiny.
  9. RR: found source of steering noise. (Toasted drag link end) and ordered parts D1: learned that parking it under the big oak tree in the spring is a mistake. Washed it over and over, charged battery.
  10. Beaver,

I will be running some trails this weekend around Bowman Lake. Any chance you and your elk grove crew want to join. Right now it's just me and a bronco. Let me know. We will leave Saturday morning and be back Sunday afternoon.

  11. Jonathan,

I didn't hear back from you the other night. I was in a store and I don't think my reception we good, sorry. I left a message when I got out but I guess you were busy. I'll be around all week so if you get a chance give me a call or shoot me an e-mail at jrfuller@ucdavis.edu

  12. It was a pleasure to meet you this weekend. Tegan and I had a blast at the event. Please thank all officers and others involved who helped put it on. It was great to see new rovers showing up all the time. We were leaving around 2:30 today and a red d-90 that I hadn't seen before showed up. Anyway, thanks again and hope to see you guys again soon. I would like to prerun those trails up in the Sierras soon. Looking at the calender, if we get snow soon it might not be possible until the spring. But it would be nice to run them and see how it goes, what the rig requirements would be and so on.

Tegan also mentioned that she was supposed to get in touch with you regarding nursing. I guess this makes me the middle man.

  13. Jonathan,

hope you made it home ok and the leg is doing better. Your case of vino was very popular at the raffle. Sadly, I didn't win it, or anything else for that matter, in the "good stuff" raffle. I did get a hat and a gift certificate from AB, so that's a plus. Hope to see you at another event soon.
