    DAY

    06 June 2016      08 June 2016

    General Information:
The Rubicon Trail is a 22 mile long route located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. It's one of the most famous trails in California, and as such receives heavy use. There are plenty of good campsites along the trail at Wentworth Springs, Ellis Creek, and Buck Island Lake can all support decent-sized groups. If we want to camp in Rubicon Springs, I'm pretty we'll need to contact the caretaker and pay a fee (per vehicle). Campfire permits are required.

The trail itself is difficult, and large rocks and steep rocky ledges are plentiful. Caution needs to be exercised on the slabs–if you drive down in the wrong spot, it's easy to get yourself into a situation you do not want to be in. HD bumpers are a must, especially with the rear overhangs on most rovers. I was able to complete the trail unlocked with no winching going the "classic" way, but I wasn't able to make it up big sluice with unlocked diffs. However, neither was my dad, who had a similar rig with locked diffs, so take that as you will. I'm not going to make lockers a requirement because the trail is doable without them, but running it unlocked makes the trail a lot less forgiving of mistakes, and greatly increases the likelihood of needing a strap.

    Minimum Vehicle Requirements:
    3in lift
    32in tires
Winch Suited to your vehicle weight
    Sliders
    HD Bumpers
Underbody Armor (Diff Guards, Gas Tank Skids, etc,)
Lockers (Highly recommended, but not required.)

Based upon the interest in the snow run in December, and general interest from talking to people, I'm going to limit the trip to a maximum of 7 trucks. That is the absolute maximum if we want to be in and out of the trail within a reasonable time frame, so reserve your spot quickly!
