Lost Coast:Veteran's Day Weekend Gauging Interest

Recommended Posts

Ron and I were going to be Trip Leaders on this one, met this week to discuss...

First question is... who is interested and which day do you have off for the holiday? My kids have off the 9th, but I have off the 12th! So I'm flexible either way.

Here is the info Ron & I have come up with so far...

General plans are to:

- Day 1: Leave the Bay Area in the morning. Meet @ Gaberville refuel; pass thru Ave of the Giants.

- Camp @ BLM campground Wailaki: http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/fo/arcat...ampground.html

- Arrive early enough and explore Shelter Cover otherwise, prepare for dinner/pot luck/camp fire night

- Day 2: Up early, check out Sinkyone Wilderness State Park

- Elk mating Season (very hostile) so beware to pets and people

- Head out Sinkyone and enter Usal Rd (off-road)

- Camp @ Usal State Camground

- Day 3: Up early optional Glass Beach or head home.

COUNTY ROAD CLOSURES

Last updated October 29, 2012 at 8:00 A.M.

Seasonal Road Closures

The following road segments will be CLOSED for the season, starting October 22, 2012 - until further notice.

Fort Bragg / Sherwood Rd. CR#419 MP# 5.08 - 27.54

Navarro Ridge Rd CR#518 MP# 8.82 - 13.10

I'm not sure where the Mile Posts are but it looks like it is northeast of Hotel Gulch leaving access to Usal Beach and campground from State Hwy 1. The second gate will be placed south of Briceland Road allowing access to Bear Harbor Campground.
