First question is... who is interested and which day do you have off for the holiday? My kids have off the 9th, but I have off the 12th! So I'm flexible either way. Here is the info Ron & I have come up with so far...General plans are to:- Day 1: Leave the Bay Area in the morning. Meet @ Gaberville refuel; pass thru Ave of the Giants.- Camp @ BLM campground Wailaki: http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/fo/arcat...ampground.html- Arrive early enough and explore Shelter Cover otherwise, prepare for dinner/pot luck/camp fire night- Day 2: Up early, check out Sinkyone Wilderness State Park- Elk mating Season (very hostile) so beware to pets and people- Head out Sinkyone and enter Usal Rd (off-road)- Camp @ Usal State Camground- Day 3: Up early optional Glass Beach or head home. Usal is also narrow and steep in places. Be careful in the soft sand. Drive improves north of Four Corners. Last part of the trip is paved. • Weather: 60% rain is expected that could make Usal road muddy for us. Sounds like a Land Rover day for us! Next day expected to be clear and sunny! We encountered many closed river access points in the last day of the trip last year but we thought it was due to some sort of special fishing season...
