How many bags did you use?

.... So that might require a guy to watch and record.

Pedram,

I use one little bag for each type of thing. So, one for the alternator bolts, one for the inlet manifold (top), one for exhaust manifold, one for inlet manifold (bottom), and then another for each 'set' that can be labeled. Probably 12-20 depending upon how much you want to separate.

Video .... oh, like this?

Got it!

Regards,

Graeme

Holly SHEET that's a great video!!! There is no way I have the time to do that! A little more subtle then that. I was thinking a video that is more simple and takes up less time to edit. But that one is something. Great find.

So I will buy a box of bags from the store. Large or small? Both?

Okay If anyone is free to come down and video or watch I'm down. I want to document the work for the write up I wanted to make. So that might require a guy to watch and record.

P, When and where are you planning to get started?

I'll try to swing by and photo/video etc...

That would be great. Maybe tomorrow at the Fremont Automall RV storage. If you want to call me at meet up there I can be there after work at 3:30pm There is a Starbucks and Wendys around the corner. There are actually a ton of places to meet there. Costco, InandOut, Applbee's, PF Changs, Market Broiler, Claim Jumpers, Shell gas station, etc.....

I'm going to stop at my house and pick up all my tools from the garage and head over to the storage. My truck runs but I want to get it apart and clean it up like Graeme suggested. That way I just need to install the heads and I'm ready. And if you video this I can totally narrate as I go. I'm good at that.

Now is your camera a digital? Can I get a copy and edit it? Or are you able to do that? I would like to post it on my YouTube account if that's okay with you?

I got started today and I got some interesting things I found out about my truck. There was a missing gasket on the upper intake stack. There was metal to metal contact without any seals. That's probably why I have a rough idle. !!!???

I have seen this before. I know when the V8 was used in custom applications in the UK we often used a thin smear of Hylomar instead of a gasket there. My RRC may even have had no gasket (it was a long while ago ...). No big deal if the surfaces are clean and flat.

I see it as a vacuum leak. Not even a sealer. Just plain metal to metal. There was a few things that were hocky pocky here anyway. I'm not going to instal this truck the way I took it apart. There is a reason for gaskets. I'm not taking chances. I have the new gasket set anyway.

I got to the fuel rails today... here is where I'm posting the write up.. Worth looking at.

Lets fast forward a little. I got this all in one month. With a whip it was really in a matter of two weeks.

Man I am not seeing these pics. As I write this I can see the IMG tag linked to Photobucket in your post. Maybe I need to have a login for them to appear, which would be lame.

edit: Now I see pictures in this post, wrapped inside the quote box. weird

Wow, nice work. I am sure the increase in power and driveability will be nice. I drove a 5-spd disco awhile back and it had so much more pep than the slushbox. Now you can get her dirty!

So the next thing on the list is to finish what I started and get the oil leak, broken motor mounts and loose starter wire fixed before this weekend for the annual event at Holister. I can't wait to test the torque. I might even try to change out the tires. I'm going to start tomorrow since I had some shopping to do for others broken things on my list. I have one after another.

First the truck then the trailer. Who really wants to come lend a hand this time? I'm just asking if you guys want to come by. I don't really need any heavy lifting. More for moral support. Do I have any takers? I'll probably start fixing the starter wire first. That is a must. The oil leak isn't horrible. The motor mounts is second. I'm doing all four. 2 on the motor and 2 on the transmission.
