Year End Garage, Gear Swap, and Holiday Party Mexxis Dec 4th 1pm

Recommended Posts

I started this on LRRF: http://www.lrrforums.com/showthread.php?t=17374

You may have gears/goodies sitting in your garage, collecting dust, want to trade or sell it for a good price; also if you won raffle items and want to trade or sell. Or simply enjoy good food, company, and talk gears.

Seems to be interest from fellow club members:

- Stevenmd

- Lsafari

- Sactodisco

- Graemebear

- Antonio

- PCRover

- Colin

- Esteban

- Disco2guy

- Grafdog

- Discochef

- N2RVRS

Maybe will see guests such as: Armedforbattle, esticher, Kimo, Disco12, and others...

A MORG is scheduled on this day so if you can't make the MORG, or want to stop-by after, come on over with your empty stomach, gears to swap or sell, or wallet to hopefully snag some deals at this Year End Garage, Gear Swap, and Holiday Party @ Mexxis.

For example, Eric or etischer migth have some more Blue Optima Battery left for $60

Post up if you are interested in coming, or have goodies to sell or trade (or if items you are looking to buy - perhaps someone might have it).

I'm still planning on attending. Things I'll bring off the top of my head are:

DII parts:

rear driveshaft with diff flange

tierod

trailer hitch

springs (front pair I believe)

rear spring perches

factory cd player w/ 6 disc changer (seems to no longer play, just clicks)

t-case shifter (Hi-Lo only)

there might be a couple other odds and ends that I'll dig for in the storage unit

Hey, Ron. Is the juicy piece of meat goodness on the grill also included?

He! He! Wouldn't want to compete with Mexxis' great food Not. My BBQ wouldn't come close to Enrique's high altitude fajitas steak.

Next time (Shaver Lake summer run).

Hi Ron,

Would that A frame bumper fit a 06 LR3/if it is what are you asking? I am also looking for a bumper and sliders for it.

Thanks

Josh

Josh, I don't think this Aframe will fit an LR3. Plus only really designed to hold lights. If you are planning to eventually install a winch and want to do more off-roading, I'd go with a heavy duty bumper like the ARB. Take a look at Dave aka Sasquatch's ARB bumper, and Luis' sliders.

I see you are in Roseville; we had an event to one of our club sponsor's place in Rancho Cordova called BBQ @ Parts Planet. Looking to do another one next year: http://nclrclub.org/forum/showthread.php?1021-NCLR-BBQ-Provided-by-Specialized-Parts-Planet-on-Sat-Aug-14th-from-9-3pm

Also trip to places like Gold Lake

And if Mexxis is not too far of a drive for you on Dec 4th, come to the MORG (Monthly Off-road Gathering in Hollister, CA) in the morning, and then Mexxis in the afternoon for this year end gathering. Or just come to Mexxis.

Ron,

Thanks, for the info. I just got a email from my Rockin Land Rover Dealer for a event there that same day. Is it all related or are you doing something different. Plus not sure if I can make it. Just had a baby, so not sure if the misses will go for that sales pitch. But I will try to work some magic.

Just tell her that it's time for the baby's first road trip with a meet and greet to the new world!

Baby definately needs a road trip. That must be why rovers come in leather so all the stuff that comes with and out of babies can wipe off!

Enrique ya let me know, (is it the metal Aframe wrap around brush guard or the rubber Aframe brush guard, also how much of a pain it is to install those. The dealer wants a fortune to mount the bumper, and the lights are a whole other story. $1500 to install lights are you serious.

The meeting time by the kiosk is 10:00. Most people begin to work their way out around 2 or 3 pm. I think the Mexxis swap begins at 1:00pm. Even if I don't make the MORG, I'll try to escape for lunch at Mexxis and meet whoever is showing up there for a Quesadilla or some other Mexxi goodness :)

post what you are looking for.... .

Hi,

I was planning on showing up, but honestly, I don't know what I'm looking for. A little friendly advice on what to add to my rover to make it a tad more trail friendly and less likely to get damaged would be great, if anyone has the time to give some guidance.

Thanks,

Jen

While under the house looking for Christmas decorations I discovered what looked to be most of a Land Rover under there. Don't know if there will be much interest since it is mostly stuff that people take off their Rovers when doing a build out. Here's a short list:

2 - DII wheels (the pre-2003 variety) spray painted gloss black. I think these were original DesertCrawler I rims. Possible ancient artifact collector value.

Stock DII sill covers - plastic. I have the fasteners in a bag somewhere too.

Stock DII battery tray and cover.

Stock DII front springs with about 35K miles on them. Don't know if they sag or not.

Stock DII rear air bags with about 35K miles on them. Were OK when I took them off.

I have the original DII air bag compressor still on the truck. We can haggle about who gets to take it off.

Full set of 2002 Freelander stock springs. THIS IS A RARE FIND. Don't miss this opportunity!

Midland CB radio. The push-to-talk switch on the microphone has disintegrated. Otherwise OK last time it was used.

Let me know if you have any interest in any of the above and I will be sure to bring it. I'll probably bring some stuff anyway. Nancy and I will be there about 1 PM.

For the LR3, talk to Sasquatch about his rod mod. You'll get more lift and fit bigger tires when you're ready. Sliders are the logical next step.

Hey Jen:

The single most substantial improvement you can make to the off roadability of the LR3 is to get some AT tires. If you decide to do that first, you can fit 285/60/18 under there without any expensive modification, just have the wire bundle runing inside the front driver's side tire well moved a bit higher to avoid the wider tire catching it and ripping it off during a hard left turn. A 5 cent zip tie will do the job. Nitto Terra Grapplers and Cooper Zeon LTZs both come in that size and have worked very well with the LR3s in the club. After that you can get the very inexpensive lift rods from Sasquatch if you want the extra 2" lift. Looks great and performs flawlessly. Many of us have it and use it with zero problems. Other than that, I installed sliders and a front skid plate to complete the protection package. Since I do not play in the boulder garden, I don't feel I can justify the expense and the extra weight of going full underbody protection. The LR3 is very well protected with just the Sliders as long as you dont get crazy with it. If you come out to the informal Holiday Party on the 4th at Mexxis, I can meet you there and show you what I have done with mine, you can see first hand and make your christmas mod list. Let me nkow wha time if you do plan to come out and I'll be there to meet with you..., and have some Quesadillas :)
