Detour to Las Vegas on the way to the Arizona Rally

Been thinking about an optional side trip to Las Vegas on our way to or back from AZ, or perhaps a dedicated trip.

Inspiration: just got back from a 3 day wknd get-away to Vegas. No card or slot machine winnings. My wife and I are not big on gambling our money in the casinos (maybe play .25 slot machines once in a blue moon, or maybe feeling lucky set aside some $$$ and play a hand of Black Jack or play craps) but we prefer a good deal on buffet meal.

And when we do go to Vegas, we spend more w/family (have relatives living there) and spend our time in the pool @ our timeshare condo (Cancun Resort one of the prop of Monarch Grand Resort Timeshare) and activities for the kids including (and/or):

- Calico Ghost town (Yermo, CA); Perhaps just a visit to the Ghost Town or day 1 camp; I don't mind viewing the trail for future visit but if we are going w/mainly stock vehicles, I would want to hit this difficult rated trail.

- Day 2 check in @ Vegas hotel. I'd suggest Cancun Resort outside the strip. The most hotels on the strip only have indoor garage parking and that might be a problem for our vehicles w/roof racks and what nots.

- Activities for the kids: http://www.springspreserve.org for the kids

- For the family: visit Valley of the Fire State Park: http://www.desertusa.com/nvval/du_nvval_todo.html

- Also if time permits (Day 4) hit either Bittersweet trail or Angel Peak Loop (stock vehicles ok)

Vegas, AZLRO Rally, and the Mojave Road. Most epic trip the club has done yet!

Oh yeah, and if you bring your GF to this trip Brenton, who knows what happens in Vegas; I mean that they have quick wedding there; faster than you can inflate 33 tires (lol).

I am already establishing connections in Vegas; there is a lunch/dinner place called Bootleggers on the strip that can poss give us a free bottle of wine (good one) for every two dinners ordered; might also see if we can get a discount on lodging at Cancun Resort; more on this later.... And in AZ, we can leverage Shaun from the AZ LR club. Mojave would be great to hit also. Epic trip can be! Just don't pass out in Vegas - might end up with a tatoo that said I love "Jeeps" - he! he!
