TigerDan Posted June 29, 2010 Report Share Posted June 29, 2010 Thinking about doing a Blue Lakes trip the end of July. Several people have expressed an interest already, and this is generally quite a popular trip. Deer Valley is one of my favorite trails, and Slickrock is a fun one as well. Still figuring out some details, but the general plan I have in mind is to start on Thursday as our travel day (for those who are able to do so,) camp at Lake Alpine Thursday night, run Slickrock Friday (it's a short trail, only four miles and can take anywhere from 3-5 hours) and return to our campsites at Lake Alpine that afternoon for the usual relaxation and BS session. I realize that some folks won't be able to make it on Thursday and could only do the weekend, so this would give them an opportunity to catch the second and more challenging trail with us. Saturday morning we would pack up and run Deer Valley in the reverse direction from the last two years (which makes the Gatekeeper a bit more of a challenge) and camp at Blue Lakes Sat. night, for a relaxing day Sunday to pack up and head home. Proposed dates are July 29th/August 1st. (EDIT: Trip is now officially set for Sept. 16th-19th) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

TigerDan Posted July 3, 2010 Author Report Share Posted July 3, 2010 Hmm...the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of bumping this back to September, even if it does mean that Mark will be able to make it... I guess the downside is that Ron won't be able to to use the trip as pre-run for Dusy, more like Dusy will be his pre-run for Blue Lakes...but for me, I have a much freer schedule in Sept. So far, with the exception of the 1st weekend of the month when I'll be in San Diego, it's pretty much wide open. Any other comments...would Sept. work better or worse for everyone? So that leaves the 9th/12th or the 16th/19th. The 19th is National Talk Like a Pirate day, but I don't see any conflict there if we wind up choosing that weekend.
