For folks that don't know, this is a sanctioned event, one of about 12 around the country for amateur rally teams to haul-ass on the same trails we use for wheeling.
The rally takes place in the backyard playground (and Rover testing ground) of Dan Harris at Cow Mountain OHV Rec area. NCLR has had a great relationship with the Mendocino Rally folks for many years and providing HAMs for block control and it's great to see the tradition continue with Chuck and Tyler are heading up the recovery teams.
There is plenty to do to get involved and it would be great to have a strong NCLR showing. What we have done in the past was camp atop Cow Mountain on Friday and Saturday night. The park is closed for this event the entire weekend and most race teams and support folks stay in the local hotels.. that meant we had the place to ourselves - beautiful! A little camping, some driving on a rally course, watching some home-brew rally racing, HAM radio, pretty darn good!
So check your calendars and I encourage you all to look closely at this weekend. It's a working weekend and not a safe place for small kids on the course which is where our efforts are needed most. So get a sitter or grab a buddy, charge your HT and pack your recovery gear, fill the fridge and sign up with Chuck.
