We have SNOW in the forecast for Thursday and Friday next week at Bowman lake.

I saw that too! Hopefully we will get a decent snowfall ; )

I did see another page that a SxS got stuck near bowman on an offshoot trail near Bowman so trail conditions could be fun : ).

Alright folks - we are a little more than a week away.

Some items for discussion

  1. Start time (if we do noon start, I'm expecting most folks will do an overnight - we can do 10am start if we have a good number of daytrippers interested) - Let me know what the people prefer.
  2. Plan is to camp over the weekend in the National Forest area
  3. The main trial run will be starting on Saturday morning, for those interested in a day trip.
  4. Roll Call : )

Current attendees:

  • Andrew / D2 / Overnight?
  • Robert / D2? / Overnight
  • Don / LR3 / Overnight?
  • Serge / D90 / Day Trip
  • Miles & Theresa / Snowlake and/or Eleven / Overnight

Not the best but intriguingly challenging. There should be some ice under the top layer of snow and there are probably some holes dug into the trail. The top of Bowman lake trail should have a lot of snow. Looks like the (new) snow will be from 1a.m. Friday until 11am Saturday and then turn to snow-rain until 4p.m. Saturday until 5a.m. Sunday morning then sunny all day.

@andrew - would you say this would make the run more difficult, less difficult, or about the same since the last time we went? Taking my brother, daughter and niece with me this time....just want to manage expectations. Thank you.

Serge

I am sure we will either make the loop around or come back down and then find a camping spot, making sure everyone makes it back ok.

I think it is going to take a different style of snow wheeling. We will have to examine the trail conditions and execute the appropriate style it will be fun!

The trail is an out and back. Miles is leading, but day trippers will probably have to call it at a certain point and just turn around because campers will probably go as far as possible and make camp. Not a big deal since it’ll be a lot easier heading back down the mountain than going up. I would not expect an escort back to the road if you’re not camping. At this point it looks like there’s 2 day trippers going. I am still unsure if I’ll make it. I’ll know by tomorrow afternoon l. I’ll be camping if I go.
