Mojave Road 2021

Recommended Posts

Colin,

You crazy man...! I would actually be concerned about lopping off some Joshua Tree branches on the Lanfair plain portion of the road. I'm sure that is a pretty big non-no, assuming you are serious about the LMTV, ha ha.

Oh man that thing would be rad out there.

I’ve taken a 5ton M35 truck through Mojave Road couple of years back for work. Some tight spots but it was doable.

You guys should consider staying at the Avi casino ($53) or, where I usually stay: the River Valley Inn -- in beautiful downtown Needles. Around 55 bucks. I like River Valley Inn better bc your truck is parked literally 30 feet from your bed.

Thinking wifey will wait until spring time to experience the desert... You know, full bloom of the creosote bushes and all... So I am gonna fly solo in the Perentie on this run. Going out there on December 10th for a secret re-com misssion. Will report in.

Cheers,

Paul

Added gps track of trail and of last year. Also i found a sweet little dune section during Halloween and a cool canyon in afton to hike. . Its only a mile off trail on the last day.

There are some cheap motels in Buttonwillow if you want to split up the drive. We usually make an evening drive from the Bay Area to Buttonwillow (3ish hours) and then head out early the next morning when we need to make the most out of a 3 day weekend. Can get a room for around $50
