I would actually be concerned about lopping off some Joshua Tree branches on the Lanfair plain portion of the road. Around 55 bucks. I like River Valley Inn better bc your truck is parked literally 30 feet from your bed. Also i found a sweet little dune section during Halloween and a cool canyon in afton to hike. . Its only a mile off trail on the last day. We usually make an evening drive from the Bay Area to Buttonwillow (3ish hours) and then head out early the next morning when we need to make the most out of a 3 day weekend.
