  1. Julias birthday was on Friday and we were unable to make it to the dunes or moab with everyone but i couldn't let the weekend pass without some camping. just about an hour away from our home is Dixie Valley where the us navy does training. As a result there are tones of old abandoned homesteads and tanks scattered around the area. We spent the weekend wandering decaying buildings, tanks, and army trucks. The weather was nice but a bit cold at night, all in all a good trip that if anyone wants to recreate someday id be happy to make a trip.
  2. Who's in the Bahamas and how do we get an on location podcast. I'll volunteer as tribute to go with Eric.
  3. I had hopes that mabey the rover gods would smile but the cards didn't line up. Last year was a stuck fest but alot of fun, I hope everyone has a good time. Put a log on the campfire, drink a beer , and get inconveniently stuck atleast once for me. Looking forward to the pictures and stories.
  4. It was a bit convincing especially after doing all the range rover history and sales brochure reading. It made me miss being in the range rover hierarchy.
  5. It definitely crossed my mind a few times to just buy an aftermarket heater and mount it in the back.
  6. My new least favorite game, seeing wich is faster the greatest podcast of all time or removing a range rover heater core. But if you are tasked with this horrible job listening to Eric and crew talk rovers and random is a good way to make it go by.
  7. It's technically wet when it warms up but last night it dumped about 2ft of snow in the reno area and we got to do some deep snow wheeling home. These were taken on our neighborhood street and in the backyard. And spotted in the wild
  8. We did an impromptu wheeling in the new year camping trip. Just a quick run into dog valley which is about 15 min from reno. Temps were down in the 20s overnight but with a good fire and beer blanket there was no issues. The next morning we found the deep 1 inch of hard core snow wheeling to make the trip complete.
  9. Any news on the moab trip we're definitely interested as our normal moab trip got canceled.
  10. Just for the cool factor I'd go at. I run dick cepek trail country exp all terrains on my lr3 and they work really well even in ice and snow.
  11. Definitely interested in going I'm not sure I can squeeze enough time for Texas but I get all tingly for moab.
  12. Depending on the dates and my work schedule I'd love to tag along. I don't have a independent truck capable of it but I'll bring my 88 or d1 and stay at the back out of the pictures. And I'm happy to help spot, stack, and sacrifice the first born to get trucks through.
  13. A bit on topic off topic but as Eric mentioned I give you the infamous Cadillac of Cadillac hill.
  14. I just finished up the rovicon podcast and it was a fun listen to be certain. I believe it was Eric who once talked about how different the experiences between the front and rear half of the group can be, and this podcast proovs that statement to me. I was around the rear the whole weekend and had no idea of the traffic chaos near the front or that don had driven up and down the trail a dozen times between the groups. Very nice recap Eric and I'm sure there's plenty of other stories that will come out over the months at other camping trips.
  15. And a big shout out to Paul for bringing beer. It's probably one of the biggest small parts that makes rovicon one of the best offroad events iv gone to.
  16. I second the huge and overdue thankyou to the rovicon committee. I can't imagine how much it takes to put on such a fun weekend and hope it's an event that can continue to grow and I hope to be there for it. It sucks Eric became a passenger princess but mabey that's the fuel on the fire to get the rock rangie rover buggy going.
  17. A few hours into the work day and it feels like a few weeks. Tomorrow can't get here fast enough, I can't wait to hange out, drink beer ,and break things with all my rover rock crawler buddies.
  18. I want to be Lutz when I grow up. Cool name, cool job, cool truck, God like driveing skill, and now the secret stash of beer.
  19. A week to rovicon and 50 years of abuse has finally caught up to my frame.
  20. Last weekend we took a bachalor trip across rubicon for Julia's brother in law. We swam every chance we could, smoked too many cigars, drank too much whisky, and ate too much red meat. At the springs we caught crawdads and had a boil then watched the meteorshower. Shockingly the guacamoland rover was the only truck in our group to not suffer a mechanical break, I managed to only cut a tire and that was probably due to being overloaded with beer. All in all a great weekend and it gets me that much more excited for rovicon.
  21. Iv got a propane fire pit I'm bringing and a tank hopefully it's enough to support the trip but extra propane is never bad.
  22. I wish we could make this but that weekend is Julia's brother in laws bachalor party so we will be a group of unruly men camping ironically close by in the Sierras. That being said the peak of the perseid meteor shower is Aug 11 to 13 so stay up late one night and make your rover parts wishes.
  23. Back in 2011 2012 Era on some trail that I couldn't tell you, probably gold lake or fordyce mabey. This poor d1 got beat to death and is now on parts truck duty.
  24. Definitely a good listen and makes me want to go on the next annual overland. I'm just not sure any of my rovers can run for that many days without falling to bits.
